As a result of the extremely devastating fires our treasured Griffith Park has experienced, it is in the best interest, and safety of our riders and horses that we delay our Ride until August 25, 2007.  In observing our tradition of compassion, we want to give the park and majestic hills some time to heal.

Although Senior Park Rangers were willing to work with us, the trails available at this time are not the majestic trails we promised you, and are not the safest for all riding levels.  With the opening of appropriate trails still uncertain, we have been advised to postpone our event until at least August as sections of the park are still dangerous. Loose earth, debris to clean and combustible tree stumps remain potential hazards and we need to make sure it's safe.

Los Angeles City Councilman Tom LaBonge, whose 4th District includes Griffith Park, said authorities are considering more horse-trail openings early next week, however we are not willing to wait until the last minute to let our riders, entertainers and sponsors all know… if it’s “on”… or “off”.

The good news is we will still be hosting the Country BBQ/Pool Party/Silent Auction on June 2nd from 1-4 pm as a kick off party and then again will host another BBQ/Pool Party/Silent Auction after the August Ride.

Those of you, who have registered for the ride or are a sponsor, will receive further information shortly.

And for those of you who were holding off on registering because of a date conflict or the pending park re-openings, you now have time to re-consider… and join our ride to help persons infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
