SAVE THE DATE: JULY 10, 2010The Life Group LA presents its Award Winning, Fifth Annual "Saddle Up LA" An AIDS Benefit Horseback Trail Ride and Country BBQ which will be held Saturday July 10th in the Beautiful and Majestic Griffith Park Mountains. If you don't have your own horse, not a problem, 75 horses are being made available on a first come first reserved basis! The purpose of the ride is to raise awareness of the fact that the AIDS Pandemic is not over and to raise much needed funds for the HIV services provided by The Life Group LA. It is also an affirmation of the power of compassion and a demonstration that ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things. This year we are offering a few new exciting twists! You can register for the Trail Ride or Enter our Fun Amateur Horse Show!! (Games on horseback that any level rider can do!) Awards this year include Custom Trophy Buckles to the Top 3 Fundraisers and a New Rookie Fundraiser Buckle as well as Prizes to 6th Place! For Horse Show contestants, Ribbons to 6th Place! The Life Group LA is honored and pleased to announce an array of amazing entertainment for the 2009 Saddle Up LA, AIDS Benefit Horseback Trail Ride, Country BBQ scheduled for July11, 2009. Please join us in welcoming, Emmy and Ovation Award Winner, renowned Actor, Comedian and this year's Honorary Trail Guide, Leslie Jordan! Need we say more! Leslie's an honest, generous, fun-loving, talented and hysterically funny character actor who puts all he has into his showmanship and philanthropy! MC'ing our event for the 4th year in a row, Actor, Writer and AIDS Activist, MC Mystery Mike Hennessey! Also joining us again this year is Glen Alen as "Bette"; A new performance by the LA Wranglers; DJ sounds of Celebrity DJ, Paris Wang; Magician Rob Rasner strolling about from table to table leaving you in wonder and Cari Anderson to teach us all a fun new line dance! Glen Alen has been entertaining as an Impersonator for over 20 years. He is the most sought after Bette Midler Impersonator around. This ball of Divine Miss M energy is not to be missed.
In addition to performing, the group found themselves in the GSGRA Dance Competition in San Francisco, California where they took first place in the "dance group" category and now hold the GSGRA state line dance championship title. The state competition led to an invitation to the International competition where they won the International Championship title awarded by the IGRA in Denver, Colorado in November 2004.
You may have also seen Rob on NBC's 3rd rock from the Sun, Saved by the Bell the New Class, and currently he can be seen on Ashton Kutcher's "Room 401" on MTV. Rob performs his magic at corporate and private events, the Magic Castle as well as children's parties, and restaurants across Southern California.
She has taught country dancing for more than forty years, and for the last 25 has been the dance instructor at Oil Can Harry's in Studio City. One of the more entertaining "dance events" was organizing a square dance for Charo's CW Baby Christening after party (in the early 80s). She is one of the oldest (both literally as well as figuratively) dance instructors in the LA area.

The Life Group LA is honored to present its award winning, 4th annual "Saddle Up LA" AIDS Benefit Horseback Trail Ride, held Saturday, July 11th In the Majestic Griffith Park Mountains. Please join us in welcoming this year’s Honorary Trail Guides, Emmy award winner Leslie Jordan and successful Actor and Philanthropist, Christopher Showerman! “These amazing, generous and sincere guys will be leading us up the mountain in a continued effort to help raise money for The Life Group’s invaluable HIV Community Programs, and we are eternally grateful and excited to have their support” says Executive Director Sunnie Rose.
Mr. Jordan has enjoyed considerable success as a writer. His book My Trip Down the Pink Carpet for Simon and Schuster is currently in bookstores. Material from the book formed the basis of a 90-minute one-man show, which had a successful 45 city book-signing/performance tour in 2008. A dvd of the show shot during performances in Atlanta will be released. Leslie’s autobiographical one-man show “Like a Dog on Linoleum” performed to sold-out audiences at the Elephant Asylum Theater in Los Angeles, the Annenberg Theater in Palm Springs, the Bailiwick Theater in Chicago, the 14th Street Playhouse in Atlanta and the Lorraine Hansberry Theater in San Francisco. Mr. Jordan’s play “Hysterical Blindness and Other Southern Tragedies That Have Plagued My Life Thus Far” ran to sold-out houses in Los Angeles and had a successful run Off-Broadway at the Playhouse on Van Dam in New York City. His screenplay “Lost in the Pershing Point Hotel” won the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival’s Production Grant Award, winning the competition from over 600 other scripts. He has been the lead in movies rolls such as "A Night at the Bijou" and "Sand and Sky" “George of the Jungle 2”, "Complacent", "Parfection", "Live Fast, Die Young", "Commander & Chief" to name a few and featured in lead rolls in television shows, such as "The O.C.", "CSI Miami", "Jack Of All Trades" and "Hollywood Safari". His theatre career has stretched across both coasts, with significant contributions in several productions, most notably, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and "Rush Limbaugh in Hell" as well as "Legends!", "The Star Spangled Girl", "Bleacher Bums”,” Closer Than Ever" And "Lies And Legends". Chris is working now on a new project called "The Land that Time Forgot" directed by C. Thomas Howell. In this project he will be teamed up to work with veteran actor Timothy Bottoms. As a working actor for many years, Showerman has always been eager to take part in several charities benefiting AIDS and various other causes. He leant his support to "The Orange County Aids Walk", The Elizabeth Glasier "A Time for Heroes" event and also The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation.
