doTERRA Donates to Life Group LA

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah, Dec. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The infection of the HIV virus has caused a worldwide epidemic for over 30 years, leaving millions without proper HIV care to lose their lives. For some individuals living with this infection, HIV can continue to worsen over time creating a more advanced disease—AIDS. With these dangerous possibilities looming in the future, it is crucial for individuals with HIV/AIDS to be informed on the best choices regarding their health care. For this purpose, The Life Group LA was formed to educate individuals with HIV/AIDS and lead them to the best resources and care.

Since Life Group LA's beginning, it has benefited many affected by HIV/AIDS and has served as a support system to individuals during challenging times. On July 9, 2016, the Life Group LA will continue to support those with HIV/AIDS by holding their eleventh annual Saddle Up LA fundraiser. This fundraiser experience allows for friends and family to come together and enjoy an afternoon horseback ride followed by a festive BBQ with live entertainment, country dancing, and a silent auction that will support those with HIV infection. doTERRA was happy to contribute to Life Group LA and donated to the Saddle Up LA fundraiser to help support the organization's cause.

The proceeds of this fundraiser event are used to bring Life Group LA's POZ Life Weekend Seminar to HIV/AIDS audiences across the nation. The POZ Life Weekend Seminar is an opportunity for people affected by HIV/AIDS to receive the education and support needed to live long and healthy lives and break free from the fears associated with HIV infection. During this weekend, participants hear from presenters and participate in workshops that address sensitive and crucial topics, including insurance and public benefits, stress management, women and HIV, medication adherence, and nutrition. The seminar is designed to be highly interactive and cater to the needs of the participants.

In addition to the POZ Life Weekend Seminar, Life Group LA provides medical forums, emotional support groups, and a judgement-free environment where trained support group facilitators listen to individuals in confidentiality. With the support of donors like doTERRA and participants from the Saddle Up LA fundraiser, the Life Group LA is able to expand these programs and influence, educate, and instruct individuals on how to avoid the dangers of the HIV infection and live long and healthy lives.

Life Group LA brings the POZ Life Weekend Seminar to Oahu, Hawaii in collaboration with Life Foundation Hawaii, November 4-6, 2016

September, 28, 2016 – Oahu, Hawaii – Life Group LA collaborates with Life Foundation Hawaii to bring the ground breaking POZ Life Weekend Seminar to Oahu, Hawaii.

With support from the Office of Minority Health Resource Center, Magic LLC, Janssen Therapeutics and Gilead Sciences, a team of highly trained Facilitators and Presenters who are leaders in the field of Wellness & HIV from the Life Group LA will be heading to Oahu, Hawaii on November 3rd to present the Island’s 1st POZ Life Weekend Retreat.

The POZ Life Weekend will be held November 4-6, 2016 on North Shore, Oahu.  Location will be provided at time of registration. Pre-Registration is required.

The POZ Life Weekend Seminar is a place where compassion, education, community and love is offered unconditionally. There are no demographic boundaries.  It's a place HIV+ men, women, and family members can come be themselves, feel comforted and supported in their effort to learn how to either live a long healthy productive POZitive lifestyle, or help someone they know and love overcome the fears associated with being HIV+.

The diverse group of Presenters, Volunteers and Staff effectively reach out and relate to specific issues that can concern and equally diverse group of men, women, people of color, gay men and heterosexual HIV positive and negative individuals. Age is not relevant in most cases, however each community and culture has specific needs for support, and each is addressed in breakout or concurrent sessions according to the specific demographic majority of the enrolled number of participants.

Workshops are extremely interactive. Presenters always welcome questions and comments. The belief is that presenters and volunteers are not the only ones sharing and teaching. The magic occurs when participants also reach out and help one another with helpful information, suggestions, support and tips.

Space is very limited to this ground breaking event and all who are interested in attending should directly contact KeivaLei Cadena, 808-521-2437 at the Life Foundation for registration.

TOP-RATED NONPROFIT GreatNonprofits.org

Life Group LA HONORED AS 2015 TOP-RATED NONPROFIT GreatNonprofits.org Award is based on Positive Online Reviews

Life Group LA announced today that it has been honored with a prestigious 2015 op-Rated Award by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations.

“We are excited to be named a Top-Rated 2015 Nonprofit,” says Sunnie Rose Berger, Executive Director, Life Group LA. We are proud of our accomplishments this year, including having taken our team on the road to Produce the first POZ Life Weekend Seminar in Phoenix, Arizona. The Top-Rated Nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews that Life Group LA received, reviews written by volunteers, donors and clients. People posted their personal experience with the nonprofit. For example, one person wrote,

“After suffering in silence and shame for over 25 years from living with HIV. Someone suggested i attend a weekend seminar. That seminar transformed me and allowed me to start the life I now have. I was able to, for the first time, talk about being diagnosed in the Navy and the way I was treated. The shame and isolation I experienced both emotionally and physically was paralyzing. At that weekend the volunteers provided a safe, loving, supportive environment. The facilitators were amazing and also allowed me the space and time to begin healing that shame. From the first phone call with Sunnie Rose the experience was incredibly loving.

I have worked with other agencies and recieved services, but none provide the service, or the support that Life Group does as well. The reason is that for the first time I was in a room with those affected by the disease and got to hear how my disease affected them. I was so isolated and had no idea that my family was as well. This experience coupled with the compassion with which they approach and provide services was the key to my returning to life.

I went to school and recieved my Masters Degree and I am currently applying to Ph.D. programs. This experience informs all that I do, and have done.

There is no other agency that provides this service, this support, and this compassion. They do not duplicate services of any kind, there is no where else to get what they provide except from them. Their work needs to be available to more, and accessible by many.

Life's are not just changed, but saved by this program.”

Top Rated Nonprofit

The Life Group LA HONORED AS 2013 TOP-RATED NONPROFIT

New GreatNonprofits.org Award is Based on Positive Online Reviews

Los Angeles, CA September 17, 2013 –The Life Group LA announced today that it has been honored with a prestigious 2013 Top-Rated Award by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations.

“We are excited to be named a Top-Rated 2013 Nonprofit,” says Sunnie Rose Berger, Executive Director, The Life Group LA We are proud of our accomplishments the last few years, including taking our seminars on the road to serve the communities of San Diego, Las Vegas, Palm Springs and in November 2013, Santa Barbara.

The Top-Rated Nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews The Life Group LA received – reviews written by volunteers, donors and clients. People posted their personal experience with the nonprofit. For example, one person wrote, “In a time when services for people with HIV/AIDS are being cut, the work of the Life Group LA is more important than ever. Their Poz Life Weekends provide specific information about HIV/AIDS, treatments, side effects and cutting edge research. The weekends also provide emotional support and vital connections for people living with HIV and the people who support them. The educational and emotional components are perfectly balanced. The weekends are a mix of both newly diagnosed and long time survivors of HIV. I have had the honor of speaking at many of the weekends and have totally enjoyed it. The audiences were engaged and asked a lot of questions. And audience members learned from each other as well. Also, as an HIV services provider, I have referred many clients to the weekends and usually described then as "life altering" and thanked me for the referral.

While the Top-Rated Awards run through the end of October, The Life Group LA was part of the inaugural group to qualify for the year.

“Savvy donors want to see the impact of their donations more than ever,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “People with direct experience with The Life Group LA have voted that the organization is making a real difference.”

Being on the Top-Rated list gives donors and volunteers more confidence that this is a credible organization. The reviews by volunteers, clients and other donors show the on-the-ground results of this nonprofit. This award is a form of recognition by the community.

Life Group LA Honored with Gelson’s “Food for All” Grant

GelsonsDecember 4, 2012, Los Angeles, CA – The Life Group LA is pleased to announce it has received a grant from the Food For All Program of Gelson’s Super Markets. The Life Group LA will use these funds to provide snacks, beverages and meals during our 2013 POZ Life Weekend Seminars as well as enhance the Nutritional Information provided during the weekends for People Living with HIV or AIDS.

“We are so very honored to have received this support from the Gelson’s Food for All Program. During these difficult financial times, it helps us to be able and provide healthy snacks and lunches for our weekend participants, some of whom may not have had a decent healthy meal in weeks due to their socio-economic status.” Says Sunnie Rose, Life Group’s Executive Director.

Food For All is a 501(c)(3) non-profit marketing organization that raises money for domestic and international charities through retail point-of-purchase (P.O.P.) programs.

These P.O.P. programs appear in thousands of grocery retail locations nationwide at various times throughout the year. Proceeds are then designated by the retailer to community-based, non-profit agencies. A portion of the funds also supports Food For All's international programs. The primary focus of their funding is hunger relief; they also support non-profit agencies whose missions are to promote health, education, and community.

“I love the work Life Group LA does for AIDS awareness and education. So proud to present Sunnie Rose Berger with a grant from the Food for All Program and Gelson's. Sunnie, you are the essence of a trailblazer. I salute you for being the selfless humanitarian you are!” says Hee-Sook Nelson, Vice President, Employee Development and Customer Relations at Gelson's.

Twenty-nine vital Southern California AIDS service organizations that formed teams for the 28th Annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles as a Community Coalition Initiative team attended a check presentation breakfast at AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s Global Headquarters on November 14.

The donations raised by each team’s participants in the 2012 Walk were presented to each of the organizations teams along with an annual contribution to each by the AIDS Walk LA Presenting Sponsor, AHF.

Life Group LA is humbled to have had such enormous support from all its volunteers, supporters, the West Hollywood Cheerleaders and new friends from Neutrogena, and grateful to APLA for allowing the privilege to participate as a part of their CCI.
